With our friends and family, we should encourage donations especially of N95 masks. But there have been many stories of people being attacked just for mask wearing. Let’s not make things worse for someone who might have been told by a doctor to wear an N95 due to immunity issues.

So if you can avoid going out, great. Please do! If you gotta go out, mask up! If you see people wearing masks, give them the nod! From afar! The sooner we normalize mask wearing, the sooner we can help dampen this epidemic. Not much else is as much under our control as this.

Today at grocery store in NJ was super impressed with how many people were wearing masks.

In California, it's not surprising for people to have leftover N95 masks from the wildfires.
-
Hospitals will take those!

indeed... I bought a pack of N95 masks last summer from Home Depot (I didn't even know the significance of the N95 at the time). It was originally for yard work because my wife has awful allergies but loves mowing the lawn. We're just reusing ones we already had.

Many people in Northern California have leftover n95 masks from the fires and we are wearing them now. We got over the social norm issue two years ago. It happens fast.

Our family would have donated our 8 masks but the bag they were in was open and we weren’t sure which ones we had already handled.

Yep. I have exactly one leftover N95 mask from renovations last year. On the rare rare occasions I go out I wear it.
