I’ve wondered why we haven’t heard more talk about taking advantage of the fact that this is a rolling epidemic, meaning we can shift resources to one area and shift them as the regional waves crest and fall. Why not move doctors? Even patients?

Would open up awkward questions about why, if the peak is different in different places, the lockdown must be the same in all. No one wants to open up that question.

Not that I disagree... but let's not pretend that this cant backfire on those giving this equipment up or having it taken from them

It is still better to bet on being able to move them in time then to have them sit in a warehouse while people die.

The epidemic will peak at different rates at different places, and scarce resources must go to the peaks. It’s humane, but it’s also smart because that’s how you dampen an epidemic. Otherwise, we will all be worse off.
