I’m a little concerned that the paper linked there has only one infectious disease epidemiologist on it & 2 public health profs. I don’t take this issue lightly, but I don’t think mask advocates are taking the potential risks & unintended consequences as seriously as they should.

Hong Kong, Taiwan amd South Korea have some of world’s best infectious disease experts with proven tract record, solid science and recent success. We’re not speculating. I think it’s become clear even to the CDC. The question that remains is the transition.

There’s a tendency to over assume correlation & causation—we know a lot less than ppl think we do. But aside from that, to imply WHO or CDC intentionally misled people is irresponsible at best and reckless at worst.

We’re way beyond simplistic errors like that. The health authorities making these recommendations and demonstrating success, and all the scientific papers, are way beyond first year statistics classes. Why didn’t CDC and WHO lead? That will require a good team of journalists.
