To the heartless people complaining US might have sent some ventilators to China at the peak of their epidemic. You'd rather have people in China die of lack of ventilators when we weren't yet hit? Not just heartless but stupid because of the below. Ventilators should go to need.https://twitter.com/lumiere2016/status/1244323105272500224 …

We're talking about ventilators. There is no shortage of things the administration is doing terribly wrong. Within countries and globally, ventilators need to move and go to peak need. They are not PPE. They can be reused, but are in short supply.https://twitter.com/brook_jaymes/status/1244326260073005056 …

Yeah, we are not lacking of things that were done terribly wrong by this administration.https://twitter.com/The2Margarets/status/1244327577319116800 …

I'm on the hold the government of China responsible for unleashing the pandemic in the first place camp. Their current misinformation campaign is disgusting. Check my thread above. It's still the right thing to send ventilators to peak epidemic places.https://twitter.com/TbBrame/status/1244327962972844032 …

I am mad, too. Our lack of preparation is inexcusable. It’s also still true helping other countries contain their own epidemic is what we have to do to protect ourselves. I don’t think I’m soft on either government here. They both failed terribly.https://twitter.com/eileenserra/status/1244333119475314688 …

Maybe not, but if we had, it would have been smart, important to help control the epidemic and help ourselves, too, and the humane thing to do. I'm raging against someone peddling outrage over it, and seeing it being retweeted.

Be sure to tell the doctors and nurses who are dying treating patients that their complaints are just callous rage peddling. Shipments left on February 7th. Two weeks before virus hit here. It is not defensible to send away 18 tons of protective gear 2 wks before it hits here.

i'd love an epidemiologist to chime in here, but my understanding is that if China's medical system totally collapsed in mid-Feb, things would be a lot worse around the world right now. also, we're not short ventilators by the number we sent China. we're orders of magnitude off.

It’s not the generosity to other nations in need that angers me. I applaud that. It’s Trump’s concurrent denial of a problem here and his refusal to help various US states also in need.
