Not wearing masks is exponentially increasing the pileup at the hospitals, putting health care workers more at risk. We can manage the transition through rationing. Everyone would’ve been better off from the start if this had been the recommendation—with rationed distribution.

"just as likely" is not accurate. It's not highly effective, but it is somewhat effective. That said, the main purpose is to stop the wearer from spreading germs. If everyone does that then the virus should stop spreading

Compared to regular medical masks, of course they are worse. Please go read the study. The recommendation is cloth mask is because they are better than nothing and we have a shortage and also it’s about protecting others not protecting you.
