NEW: CDC guidance on masks expected to change in next 10 days. Americans will be advised to wear masks in everyday life. Current recommendation is for high-risk groups only.

I obviously didn’t say that. But the doctors will face even more dire a situation without population wearing masks—including homemade and sanitized-reused ones. The population is already buying masks, and better to manage that top-down through rationing and reuse and homemade.

The run on masks already happened and the muddled messaging probably fueled hoarding—mistrust does that. We need the honest communication: There are too few for healthcare workers and they get all the N95s. Rest of us manage a limited supply including homemade while we ramp up.

Mr. Shaub, I would politely suggest that you are failing to differentiate between various mask types, -- N95, procedure, homemade, etc. and that this generalization is coloring *your* rhetoric and thinking. I'll be surprised if CDC says N95 for all, since they aren't available.

Responsible social distancing and wash your hands. Mask are not needed, unless they are, leave them for the front.

These are not evidence- based claims you are making. Improper mask use is worse than no mask use at all. Social distancing should be the standard; masks are likely analogous to helmets in football, when people feel protected, they tend to assume more risks.

"Improper mask use is worse than no mask" - What kind of nonsense is this? Anything somewhat blocking your mouth or nose is going to be better than nothing. Even if the mask is upside down.
