I had bits about (a) in the piece, but seemed to diffuse the point and make it too long so took those out (already kinda long and complicated piece). (b) and (c) seem to be covered widely now, but just like the 2016 debacle, media focuses on anything else but its own failures.

Yeah, many scripts broke. People can't understand WHO-China thing; they just don't understand top-down misinformation; many still think travel bans don't work, (they did, of course, delay though weren't early/severe enough).. A few of the obvious ones.

Also, the racism/groupthink culture.. So terrible. "What about racism" is not just a stupid response to a pandemic, it was racist. Those people didn't take all this seriously till it started hitting Europeans even though Wuhan showed us everything. Chinese suffering didn't count.
