Um, okay but.. that's not an observational or experimental study, it's a model. Why on earth people changing their minds from a model (models can be great; models can be bullshit) when there is tons of actual high-quality evidence and studies? @politicalmath @antoniogm
(Also, besides the shortage, I think N95 use as everyday protection has genuine issues—it really is less comfortable so much more likely for people to pull it aside etc. In Hong Kong, they don't even use N95s for medical workers routinely—only for real risk, like intubation).

Japan isn't testing widely so it's an open question where they really are, but clearly they are not Italy or US. So masks almost certainly help there, too.
