(TBH I was a bit wary but felt I had to write as loudly as possible given the stakes. I braced for the onslaught. I waited for people to find studies I had missed. Something I hadn't considered... Anyway, there is only one truth, especially for surgical masks: don't have enough).
Interesting. I suppose that whatever else masks might do, they will keep you from touching your mouth and nose.
Hong Kong doctors, who've successfully combated the virus, urge us all to wear masks. https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(20)30520-1/fulltext#bib1 …
Now that “masks don’t work” has died can we start to adopt the mindset that bad/imperfect/homemade masks are better than uncovered noses and mouths. My local hospital says “don’t bring us homemade masks. We don’t want them and we have enough professional grade stuff.”
I agree! Yes, it's a model, but it seems increasingly to point at the fact that our official gov't health sources basically just flat-out lied to us. They tried couching it in weasel words so they could be technically correct, but it shattered vital trust.
Indeed, there is a significant amount of non-model evidence that I've been tweeting, threading and writing about for a while. And yeah, if you read the op-ed I tried to explain that if you don't tell people the full painful truth, it actually fuels hoarding.
