How hard would it be for Twitter to 1. Add a specific coronavirus option to its Report This Tweet dropdown 2. Add a "Report virus misinformation" flag to all posts it's algorithm is sorting as being about Covid-19 >

The problem is how do you even sort it when the authorities misinform and when all sorts of pundits are flat out wrong? This is why it has been a thorny problem in the third world and now it’s everywhere. There is Trump... But the blue check world has flunked this so badly, too.

Right? Companies will take down Joe Schmo, but unless they're also taking down Trump, does it really make a difference?

And also realize that a lot of misinformation is coming from the other side of the aisle as well, not just Trump, and from the blue check crowd. This is very hard, and something third-world countries have dealt with for a long time, unfortunately.

Sure. And I wrote about that extensively here a few months ago. https://www.ribbonfarm.com/2019/12/17/mediating-consent/ … Media should've retracted / corrected what they got wrong. Tho, pointing to op-eds from early on - when official guidance was vastly different - is not the best counterexample either.pic.twitter.com/U773haF7YA

It might help to read the WaPo pieces as well. Quite a bit more nuance is involved in a couple of those takes. I'm not discrediting the claim that "blue checks" have stumbled but I think it's a bit more nuanced than the blatancy of the Medium article.
