That's not p-hacking. Seriously, that's a serious claim and that paper may or may not survive peer review but the abstract isn't describing p-hacking.

The paper is half-baked imo but honestly, the questions have nothing to do with p-hacking. The reason for the three days is supportable, but it probably needs controls for social proximity (control for Wuhan outflow ties) etc. +

The paper doesn't even say no problem. It claims an association that lowers transmission with some statistically visible impact. Seriously, we are all affected but please don't interpret papers with some alleged statistical crime because you're stressed.

Statistically visible difference may be an artifact; may have little clinical significance; may be lacking relevant controls; may not matter because of factors that overwhelm it etc. etc. P-hacking is something specific, not a curse word. Hope your family does as well possible.
