There's a role for someone to emerge as the world's leading interpreter of coronavirus statistics. You see a lot of data reported in real time (e.g.(https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries …) but not always obvious what's "real" and what's an artifact of insufficient testing/underreporting etc.

Fair, but there's a lot of room for someone diving into the nuances of testing, the likelihood of uncounted cases (without irresponsible guesses), the sources of existing cases, the extent containment success through lockdown, hospital bed occupation rates, etc.
