It’s so ignorant the call this a black swan event that it drives me nuts. Couldn’t be further from one. It had been solidly predicted and it came and developed almost exactly as predicted.

Exactly so. You've also heard me in the past talking about how human beings are innately bad at non-immediate risk, and this then interlocks viciously with statistical innumeracy.

I can't get over the people who wrote please don't panic, overreaction, what about the flu, etc. well into February! I was very worried by first week of Jan (Hong Kong/Taiwan and countries that understood mainland China leapt into action then). End of January was five-alarm fire.
