What level of insanity is this? (I'm not trying to buy any wipes online, just checking out of curiosity). $23 for one normal box of bleach wipes? Many similar items are sold out online. Are people's local stores really sold out of these otherwise cheap items?pic.twitter.com/Mf8U9VPoZk

I think this is for the SV types who don't know regular stores exist. I don't think regular stores are sold out, though. They weren't this Saturday, but I have not checked since.

It's most likely timing of local demand and just-in-time supply chain. I expect regular stores getting stocked up in a week or two. Most of these products are made in the US, and unless the factories stop (unlikely), there should not be shortfall.

This. Just-in-time supply chain needs to be re-configured. Especially for products made outside the US. They already increase stock of flu meds during the winter, and batteries/water/generators, etc during hurricane season. Now we need a backup plan 4 the big one. It’s coming.

Many are. Even the smallest neighborhood stores.

In Seattle you can not find cleaning wipes or hand sanitizer anywhere. Grocery stores, hardware stores, Costco, anywhere. Plenty of hand soap on the shelves though,

Hand soap is the first thing I bought, followed by wipes (but all purpose cleaner would work just as well). I did not get any sanitizer. But then again, coronavirus has a lipid outer shell, and it's easier to kill with soap than alcohol.
