I think it’s possible that YouTube has improved in this regard. How much? I don’t see why one would do a drive-by anonymous user type study to look into this. It’s just the kind of thing for which we need independent researchers with access the industry data coupled with a panel.

Drive by is not really fair. Yes they should have done a few tests to illustrate the extent to which personalization could threaten the findings. And yes there’s only so much you can say without all of YouTube, but this strikes me as an important piece of evidence
