An accessibility question: probably first of many as I wrangle with one handed typing. Ugh. I turned on speech-to-text on my Chromebook, but when I use Google Docs it doesn't recognize the formatting commands. If I say "select all", it just types "select all". 1/2

They only have instructions on how to do this (enable microphone for use within Google Docs on a Chrome browser) on a Mac or a PC but not on the computer they produce! Doh.https://twitter.com/pheski/status/1200496685195157506 …

Putting the answer here if anybody else needs it. There is another setting under "advanced options" accessed as below that you change per site. Global voice input on ChromeOS doesn't include formatting. Docs voice input does. None of this seems documented! https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/114662 …

I promise, not snark intended but how does such a strong and thoughtful privacy advocate as you are get within a thousand yards of a Chromebook?

security vs. privacy trade off. sandboxed operating system ability to wipe it all "powerwash" with a key combination. it's also not my only laptop. it's good for traveling with nothing

@zeynep Assuming you are using Chrome as your browser…this sounds like the instructions. https://support.google.com/docs/answer/4492226?hl=en …https://twitter.com/zeynep/status/1200495434805977089 …
