Want to change two kids lives? I met them last night. Single mom and two sweet kids are in a poverty trap—a few thousand $ would be life-changing. She works two jobs but no money for rent deposit so almost homeless. Now car about to die.
I'll cover fees. https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-a-homeless-single-mom-and-her-2-kids …

Thank you! So much hidden poverty where I live mostly because of housing costs and not enough living wage jobs. Kids living in vans, hotels, moving from relative to relative, coming to school tired and hungry despite working parent(s). :-(

I hear lots of discussion of the "working poor" but we have so much "working poverty" and we're not attacking that with the force it merits. It's indefensible in a country as resourced as the US.

Yeah. Most crises that I hear of come about because of something simple. Car dies, can't quickly replace, lose job... and everything spirals out of control. Take on second job to try to fix, now kids barely see their parent. A reasonable minimum wage would solve most of this.

That and health care. Basic, freaking, human health care.

Yeah. There are a number of issues to address, there, too with this family. They've been lucky but like many in their position, have been postponing basic care. How can this rich a country not take provide some basics??!
