Thrilled to announce this.
This has been in the works for a while. I was offered a great deal in terms of varying lengths to write, compensation, and *crucially*, freedom of topic. I plan to branch out: still a lot of tech and society but also more politics, culture and life.https://twitter.com/andersen/status/1176481288611667970 …

My final columns in
@Wired and@sciam will come out in a few months. (Print runs ahead). Both were awesome! As much as I'm genuinely thrilled, I have to admit the bittersweet part: I had the best colleagues! I'll still occasionally show up at@nytopinion as contributing writer.4 replies 2 retweets 68 likesShow this thread -
I'm a non-native English speaker with a non-elite background. I got lucky but I also learned many lessons. I started "an advice to new writers" thread but remembered *my* big lesson. Less threading, more long-form. I'll put all that in my next newsletter.

What to put on social media and what to write long-form is a challenge but my newsletter is just as free and this is true for all writers: be strategic on what you put where and when to shift and how. I'll stop this topic here for now, haha. *tries to take own advice*

Also, special shout out to my editor at
@Wired,@johngravois, who is so awesome to work with, and a big thanks to@nxthompson for bringing me on with so much support. This cover story I did for them is probably my favorite piece on the new public sphere.https://www.wired.com/story/free-speech-issue-tech-turmoil-new-censorship/ …1 reply 9 retweets 65 likesShow this thread -
As for branching out: While at
@sciam, I wrote an online-only post on sociological versus psychological storytelling with Game of Thrones as example. (So much gratitude Michael D. Lemonick!). Anyway, not to brag, but I was told over a million views. And here ends this thread: There is a great audience out there, outside the virality gaming. It's tough for many writers to make it but I want to urge publishers to give more people a chance and pay them well! And readers: do support good work. Subscribe *and* speak up! Onward.

I’m sorry that I can’t just turn this thread into a group hug. It would be great, though. Thank you to so many wishing me well. Eternally grateful for the support!
