Microsoft Outlook is my unfavorite example of how monopoly effects persists for decades even when the product is crap. I'm forced to use it. When I search for the word "form" it picks one old email and TWO DELETED ones—not even the right word. Yet, Microsoft is swimming in cash.pic.twitter.com/x8gSlrKY0b

Almost all the rest of the "results" are in the deleted folder as well. Do I have a choice to search everywhere *but* the deleted folder? Of course not. I can search only inbox, or I have to search everywhere *including* deleted.🤦‍♀️Yet, Microsoft has cash coming out of its ears.pic.twitter.com/aWzxDgzK1F

So you break *all* search functionality for everyone who actually uses archives as archives and trash as trash—and no option to use the sensible option? This wouldn't fly if anyone actually had a choice and a real marketplace with options. It's 2019, this isn't even complicated.

Not sure how it's breaking all search functionality. It just requires you to refine your search more. I understand it's not the simplest, but as you discovered already, you can specify the folder you're searching in so if you know it's in your archive folder, you can search that.

I can't. I want to search *all* folders besides trash. Trash is the one folders that I obviously don't want to search. No option. No option even to search multiple folders. (If it is hidden somewhere that I, a multi-decade user can't figure out, that's another kind of bad).

I understand what you want to do, and I agree that it's the best design. Just saying it's not breaking all search functionality. And again, it's obvious that YOU don't want to search trash, but there are many Outlook users who do expect results from deleted items to be returned.
