That is almost certainly water. It is absolutely not liquid nitrogen. I'm in Hong Kong, watching things up close. The protesters are very tenacious and persistent, but things aren't high-tech. They have a very similar range of tools to what one saw in Tahrir Square, Egypt etc.

Rory Byrne Retweeted Read Teaching to Transgress by bell hooks
Rory Byrne added,
Read Teaching to Transgress by bell hooks @JoshuaPotashThe badass protester in this video wrote me saying: “I have to say inside the bottle is just mud and I dig it under a tree. Liquid nitrogen will explode.” I apologize for sharing incorrect info originally. Please help get the right info out. https://twitter.com/PatriotCoburn/status/1168006395884519425/video/1 …1 reply 2 retweets 10 likes -

It's the water that's doing the work. You can put sand to absorb heat. Or not. Or believe random claims of emails from protesters! I've been watching them use water for weeks. Rory, some things aren't best learned on Twitter. Please pick a field appropriate to your actual skills.

The same guy who fell for liquid nitrogen got an unverified email from an alleged protester, and you pass that on as information. You don’t understand that the sand, if any, is irrelevant. Plus you have a weird document that’s allegedly describes hand signs that’s .. ridiculous.

I’m sorry but I’m short on patience on people who are claiming to give security advice but are clearly not in a position to do so! I understand you think you are well-meaning, but there professions where you can avoid doing harm just by being well-meaning. This isn’t it.

I'm very much open to a having a civilised conversation over DM that I think would actually be very positive.

Despite your insistence that I don't know what I'm talking about at all or that I don't have relevant skills. I think a DM conversation would be interesting for both of us.

I’m concerned about safety for these vulnerable youngsters a lot more than this remote chance of “interesting” conversations. Life is quite interesting anyway. I sound harsh to you, I know, and I’m not a Twitter fighter. Please take that a sign. This is bodies on the line here.

You don't think I'm aware that there are bodies on the line? Or that I haven't been working with groups at risk for longer than I can even remember? I'm not gonna blast my credentials on this stuff in public and you obviously prefer shouting to sharing so have a great day.
