It is not. Please. This is nonsense harmful both to Hong Kong's brave but quite vulnerable protesters PLUS it's being spread by outright racist accounts making claims about "high-IQ Asian protesters" etc. It's water. They use water like every other protester on the planet.

Liquid nitrogen is not appropriate, useful, available, transportable or safe against hot tear gas canisters. Water works just fine, maybe mixed with some sand. Hong Kong protesters are young, brave and very vulnerable, not some sort of high-tech street fighting force.
