Don't blame the people falling for this. I routinely try to figure out something basic (how do I stop YouTube history? Can I stop Chrome from keeping browsing history? ) and then I spend hours, get confused, ask Twitter, nobody knows. Of course regular people are confused.https://twitter.com/aseitzwald/status/1164013059091906561 …

I’m not blaming the regular people, I’m talking about celebrities who could use their giant platforms more responsibility. A 30 sec Google search shows plenty of news about *other* new Instagram rules, but not this. There would be tons of articles if this were real.pic.twitter.com/SNTtdakh6B

I think the real problem is that the giant platforms are not responsible in making things clear. The level of confusion and distrust is sky high (I can't convince anyone Facebook isn't listening in on their mic!) because it's been 10+ years of confusion and bait and switch.

I try googling stuff and get very confused sometimes. Celebrities are ordinary people when it comes to all this, anyway. After this much erratic, confusing and, yes, surreptitious behavior, yeah, people will be confused. (Facebook read people's SMS messages! Who knew?!?)
