It’s gravely disrespectful to show me stuff I never asked to see. Maybe you’re going to get some of the engagement statistics up for a time, but your new redesign is terrible. You’re on your way to combining worst of Facebook’s problems with Twitter’s existing problems.

A bunch of us stuck to Twitter despite everything. Yes, we are a minority of your users but I bet a good deal of the people who produce the content that makes it different. I rarely log onto Facebook anymore. Twitter is likely next. A crappy version of FB won’t get you anywhere.

We're not trying to create a crappy or non-crappy version of Facebook. We're just trying to surface the most relavent conversations at the right time to our customers based on their interests. And for people who would rather us not do any work for them, we introduced "Latest".

Clearly something about our approach is not satisfying and creating frustration. I'm sincerely eager to understand so that we can make the service better for you.

As an example of something that I think isn't great (open to more suggestions): for people who prefer using Latest, we need to make it easier for this option to stay a default across clients/devices and sessions. We're working on that.

There is a small number of us so-called "power-users" who use Twitter is specific ways. We aren't many but we produce a lot of content. Twitter is a top-heavy place--most people read. But you keep making it hard for us to stay on the platform and last update is terrible.

We use lists. (Your update broke my lists). We don't like random tweets inserted to our TL. (Who does?!?!) Tons of bugs remain unfixed. For example: the DM notifications are broken. Quote tweets can't be added to threads. We need more control over "quotability" of tweets. etc.

I.. don't think most of your designers and top people are heavy users of Twitter, tbh. I have seen this. People in the company tweet, grudgingly, once hired. Stop as soon as they leave. Also, making desktop look like mobile? 🤮 Standardizing codebase is fine. Desktop is desktop.

Definitely hear you loud and clear on the desktop redesign. Team is working on addressing the information density & layout feedback. For List bug, mind DMing or replying here w/ more info on what list was lost? Can look into it. Re DM, are you referring to inaccurate badge count?

The updated app only allows users to access their 20 most recently created lists. As a journalist who started using lists to cover the Arab Spring and events across dozens of countries, my oldest lists are important; now you made it impossible for me to use the app to gather news

That's what I mean, this stuff is designed by people who don't actually use the product heavily. DM notifications are still a mess, for example. An actual heavy user would notice it because it's been like this for years.

It also seems like their product team did surveys with random people, whereas they probably should have done a survey restricted to users with 10s of thousands of followers. the results would have been completely different.

These issues have existed for years because Lists/DMs have been on maintence mode for yrs until few months ago when we staffed focused teams. Bad news is, yes there are lots of issues. Good news is, hoping to pleasantly surprise u by addressing these and adding more value to both

Thanks for the reply. Allowing users to choose the order of lists, which would address this, would be great.
