There's finally widespread recognition to regulate/reform and consider more complicated implications of our new digital public sphere. It would be unfortunate if the mood-of-the-moment dominated the conversation. (Again, ironically, mood-of-the moment is viral-friendly).

Yes, most everyone has "a long way to go." The democratic process is corrupted and/or captured in different ways almost everywhere.
