If you have the time and inclination, do you have any suggestions for good works to start with for people coming from tech background, used to thinking narrowly about individual-user-computer UI?

Pretty much anyone on this thread getting mad is a person worth following.

The problem isn’t that we are lacking a conceptual tool kit. The problem is people emerging from the technology fields are *aggressively* ignoring the existing vast body of knowledge & existing ethnical frameworks that we can and should apply to the current situation/technology.

Hi
@zeynep, don’t think we have formally met yet. I both admire and am inspired by your work. What I hear you saying: an incredible amount of thought & work .. fields and sub-fields and sub-sub-fields... have been dedicated to grappling with technologies interaction of society. -
For close to two centuries. Well-developed conceptual toolkits. We do need to, of course, apply all this to the current moment. To current technologies. This political moment. Last thing we need is to start from scratch conceptually. That "disruption" ideology is a core problem.

Amazing that this guy could have had the title "design ethicist" with such a chasm of ignorance.
