Decades of research shows job training programs don't work at scale because of lack of *supply* of appropriate good jobs. There is certainly need on the ground but as you said, not the money or the political will to pay for it (through increased taxes or different allocations). A key question is, I believe, what training programs would help folks get good-paying jobs now.

There is still a shortage of CNC machine operators, but it takes longer than a 16 week boot camp to prepare, especially if there are gaps in primary and secondary education: https://study.com/cnc_operator.html … Also, the jobs aren’t everywhere. No silver bullet.
