I think I’m disconcerted at your dismissal of secondary orality IIRC secondary orality relies to some extent upon written signs/media, so Tressie’s point about desiring the non-verbal signs of agreement in a chat convo doesn’t clearly read as scaled up oral psychodynamics

If anything, the scaled up oral psychodynamics (OP) of Twitter are deeply reflective of western technocultural discomfort with discourses and information practices they can’t control/comprehend.

Yes and the psychodynamics of orality were and are dominant in human culture. Literacy is shaped in community. We learn to read in someone’s lap, in a school. Print culture has never exceeded the community and communion that shapes interpretation and meaning.
