Thoughts with Sri Lanka. Non-Sri Lankan media: please be considerate of your reporting both of images of carnage, and handling manisfestos/etc. of killers. All social media companies need to have extra eyes on there, and urgently hire more native speakers and experts.

Umm, projecting our US-UK-EU specific Facebook worries onto Sri Lanka would be a major disservice to an actual country facing a deep challenge. Please don't. Sri Lanka has a deeply censored mass media and people rely on social media for information. World is complicated.

Big tech and international mass media is part of Sri Lanka's information ecology and that comes with responsibilities—pointing out the complexity doesn't absolve them. But it's just not a simple case of social media bad, rest okay. PLEASE RESPECT THE COMPLEXITY. Much is at stake.
