There isn't silence on all that! People spent decades fighting and trying to reform traditional media. Should there also be sustained attention on that? Yes, and there is a lot. I wouldn't mind more. Yes, the new/future threat does get a lot of attention partly due to novelty.

UK has very strong defamation laws. Many countries have hate crime and media regulation laws. The US used to have more, too but weakened now. It’s just not true that this area is somehow unregulated. You may have a different wish list but there is about a century of history here.
