Was there a wave of think tanks and newspapers doing ‘SQL ethics’ pieces in the late 1970s?

(The answer of course is ‘yes’, more or less. Every new wave of automation poses questions, some justifiable, some not, and some just panicked)

Yes, of course, though about databases rather than SQL alone and some of it quite insightful since they lived through the transition, and transition people can have insights that are harder for the already-steeped—though they get details wrong so need to read with that in mind.

People like to say we panicked over cars and TV, too. Yes, arguably we should have panicked more and been much smarter much earlier. Imagine having insights about climate change, car safety, and walkable cities being baked into how we thought about cars/transportation in 1920s.
