Look at the canceled flights. They are long, like DCA - MIA or DCA - Dallas. No one is driving that. DC to Miami is 1,000 miles or at least 16 hours. If you were going to drive it, you were never going to fly.

When you take long drives in the US, it requires planning. I've taken many going from OK -> LA or TN -> TX. You don't hop in the car to drive for 18 hours.
