Folks, this right here is the key problem and no amount of "let good speech chase off bad speech" will solve this. Creating content to explain the importance of vaccinations just means YouTube will THEN flood that same viewer with anti-vaccine misinformation—and will keep at it. https://twitter.com/BrandyZadrozny/status/1100480108752711680 …

Why Sri Lanka, which possibly has higher vaccination rates & no anti-vaxxers to speak of? See https://www.who.int/immunization/monitoring_surveillance/data/lka.pdf …

No, I mean for other types of misinformation where they don't even pay this much attention. Most rest of the world is better at vaccination than the US at this point. :-(

This may sound nuts, but could the anti-vaxx tsunami be somehow amplified by Russian bots and/or bad actors? If the goal is to weaken a country, brainwashing even small numbers of its citizens to willingly avoid vaccinations seems like a kind of medical warfare strategy, non?

Didn't it come out recently that anti-vax disinformation was one of the things Russian trolls have been pushing?

Slightly flippant, but I'm pretty sure it'd work.https://twitter.com/jwiechers/status/1100509261254324225?s=19 …

Attention is an incredibly destructive metric and it’s driving everything. It elevates all the worst in humanity, both on an individual and systematic level. Do we really need Russians to exacerbate our divisions when our own algorithms are doing this?
