Friends, I'm in touch with this family with four kids facing homelessness.
Tough situation, involves fleeing domestic violence. Mom has a job lined up, but needs a way to survive for a few months and afford transportation. Fundraiser if you can help:https://www.gofundme.com/mcdougle-mom-and-4-kids-facing-homelessness …

Thank you everyone! We met our goal and if we have any extra, it will be put to good use! I'm happy to report that yesterday mom had a relaxed shopping outing for immediate needs—without the kids! She said she cannot remember the last time she had a day like that. Thank you!

It shouldn't come down to this—the ability to fundraise—that staves off a catastrophe for four little kids. I believe in a robust safety net and structural solutions. OTOH, the right intervention at the right time can be crucial and it's not either/or. Thank you, again, everyone.

Folks, an update. Yesterday, the family had to flee the already untenable situation (before we had a place for them ready). A kind member of this tiny team helping them has taken them in for now (yeay). If you're local & have a high chair to donate, DMs open

Family Promise in Raleigh might be a good resource. They specialize in providing support to homeless* families, helping them return to stability. *or 'precarious'https://www.familypromisewake.org/

Thank you! We have a social worker on the case will pass this along, too. The problem here is the crisis is immediate but what help is available is rarely quick enough. Trying to keep the kids in the same Chapel Hill school district, too―they have been through enough upheaval.

Such efforts raise issues for some, as I addressed back in 2011: …http://myreallifeunnecessarynightmare.blogspot.com/2011/07/reflections-on-gratitude.html …
