Starting to come to terms with the reality that we’re going to have to drop everything to terraform earth in the next few decades

We have to drop everything and save what’s left right now, but the reality is that this planet already does not resemble earth in a few important ways, and it’s going to need help. Capitalism doesn’t have an answer for this, by the way

I've been thinking a lot about this too. When I see stuff about living on mars or the Moon I think about how we'll have to just work on keeping our own planet habitable (which will be 'easier" than putting an atmosphere on a planet that doesn't want one in the first place)

I read a tweet in response to
@zeynep a while back (might have been Zeynep herself) that put it in a very simple way that stuck with me: "if we could terraform Mars, we'd have terraformed Earth"1 reply 0 retweets 4 likes -
Yeah, my phrasing. “Terraforming” Mars is probably asymptotic to impossible, while, hey look, planet here: already Terra.

The choice pull quote I remember following that was "And it already has 1G of gravity!"
