A sentence I read today in an outdoors magazine: "You are in danger of living a life so comfortable and soft that you will die without ever realizing your true potential." Danger? Like, that's my life goal.
First world folk are... interesting.

There's gotta be others, right? Funny thing is every gym etc. I know gets over-crowded in January and thins out in February. I was joking about new years' resolution recently. Mine this year is air-conditioning. I mean it, it gets humid around here.

But I like my sports! I'm there in the gym in March after the self-improving folk stop attending. If I dive, I want to see ocean creatures in the bright shallows, not set depth records. I'll hike the nice trail up, thanks, you free solo.

Martial arts, which I actually really enjoy when I get a chance, can be terrible like that! "I like doing this, and learning how to do it well for sure, but I don't care about your belts or hierarchy and I don't have a goal..." Often does not compute.

Maybe they mix up “true potential” with be what society expects you to be...

And oh yeah, can we agree “true potential” is a really crappy way of looking at yourself. Just enjoy the ride.
