Hmm maybe you should talk with some of our students because you’re simply wrong, there’s no two ways about it

You’re fundamentally wrong. Our bread and butter is people who have been looked over by society. We don’t give a shit about how much money you have, where you live, what your GPA or work history looks like. We find people who can handle the learning curve and that’s it.
-
And I'm telling you that the people "who can handle the learning curve" are a particular slice that isn't going to scale up, and I'm happy for them but they would probably be fine in community colleges, too. The obstacles are complex and well-studied.

Coding bootcamps are great for a small slice. I love MOOCs for myself. There's a place for focused vocational-training for a few. But the article's talking about you scaling up to address the student debt crisis. And I'm telling you, that problem isn't among that slice.

You got her shook

Instead of anecdotal data, why not provide her (us) some stats to show how students benefit from your model over other ed options?? Seems reasonable.

What % of students get a job in field that meets your min payback req? Is % increasing?

To be fair, framing Lambda's model against the student debt crisis seems to be the NYT's angle. I haven't followed everything that Lambda/Allred says, but seems like their PR makes narrower claims about improving developer education https://lambdaschool.com/blog/lambda-school-announces-14-million-series-a-led-by-gv/ …pic.twitter.com/luQvgbFOPJ

I've no problem with coding bootcamps or schools. Current CS education is in a weird place. Too much of some things probably not necessary, not enough of a lot of other very necessary things etc. Lots of people can learn to code enough to get a job, for now, without a CS degree.

Lambda does help overlooked ppl and ppl who don’t make much money. They are a new small business and while they have plans to scale they can’t tackle the addressable market of every potential community college student immediately.
-
Lambda has a lot of potential to scale, and ultimately will likely help many potential community college folks (and state and elite college students as its faster to employment and more affordable)
