Anyway, none of this is secret knowledge. This stuff has been studied to pieces. But with so much excess money sloshing around because the wealthy and the large corporations barely pay taxes... Inequality threatens even the best-case scenario of market forces acting as controls.

When I was an undergrad, community college was free. Totally. SF State was $65 per semester. UCB was $325 per quarter. Silicon Valley was a prune orchard.

I studied job-training for my dissertation. There are decades of research on these kind of efforts—well-meaning ones. This isn't some uncharted territory. The students "who can handle the learning curve" are a very particular slice. The crisis is the ones with obstacles.
