I wrote this when French politicians got hacked but it applies to Germany now. Just because something got hacked doesn’t mean journalists have to amplify every bit. Instead, a high bar for newsworthiness should be applied. Also stop publicizing the links. Yes, the determined will find it. That’s not relevant to the fact that adding friction helps. Don’t act like kids in a candy store—journalists and others. We have to learn new habits, merging public interest with resilience towards manipulation.

We are not going to eliminate attempts at misinformation and manipulation. We’re going to learn how to deal with them while simultaneously protecting the public interest and genuine whistleblowing.
