Your argument is lacking in any sort of systematic evidence, at all. If you think impression counts are an imperfect measure -- and surely they are -- then come up with something better.

My quick-and-dirty metric is actually social media *impressions*, not posts. The Russian troll posts constituted a *lower* share of impressions than posts, which really cuts AGAINST your hypothesis (i.e. they punched below their weight rather than going viral).

I don’t follow this percentage of impressions argument at all. Surely all impressions aren’t weighted equally in terms of retention and effect...? One billion cat impressions vs one thousand “Proof that Hillary endangered a million school kids!” surely aren’t comparable...?

1. someone needs to make this discussion into an American Choppers meme, pronto 2. joking aside, this is a fascinating discussion and very much worth having. A veritable Talmudic "controversy for the sake of Heaven." I respect you both very much!

Also there is no way any of you can measure: Aunt June read some bad information on her social media feed and then went to her aqua aerobics class & said something about it to the 6 people there, like Linda, who at Bunko two nights later repeated it to 16 people there etc etc
