Also I did write the outlines I had in NYT and Wired—including the key problem: our public sphere is now both mass and private in that it’s submerged in opaque platforms: Facebook, YouTube. That is a novel historical combination. Takes time to uncover problems and respond.

It's a historic transition. We'll catch up if we want to and put effort into it. This isn't that different in that way from previous media/public sphere transitions.
