Hmmm. The piece is very much about *not* surrendering to the increasing cycle of cynicism, and the necessity of navigating even well-earned distrust. I'll talk to my editor if the headline will be misunderstood/can be changed.

Hard to see how the headline is not misunderstood and contributing to the very syndrome that the piece thoughtfully discusses. Sadly, the headline will be read far more than the op ed....

I do see your point! The whole piece is about the challenge of navigating distrust. Emailed my editor, I'll will wait for feedback and see if it can be changed before publicizing piece.
