That Olivia Nuzzi Trump interview, plus his phone-in on Fox & Friends this a.m., points up something about his run-on speaking style. He only has a few things he says. And he always says them. Once a line makes it into his repertoire, it stays in. And it all just... accumulates.

In the F&F interview, Trump says, about Senate races, I don't want to name any names--OK, I'll name names! That's his oldest shtick. He used it in his first 2015 rally, about reality shows that copied The Apprentice. Once a line gets a reaction, it goes in the permanent rotation.

That's how he uses his rallies and Twitter, too. I wrote about this back in March 2016 when too many journalists were busy making fun of his transcripts for being rambly―while also obediently staying in their assigned fences in during his rallies.
