If people can’t keep terms from being misused, that’s a function of power and effective opposition. Abandoning terms and concepts is just a sign of weakness. On what planet do people think if we stop using the term, somehow, it ends up with less censorship by authoritarians?

Those are fine terms but there is a reason "fake news" is so resonant, and authoritarians rushed to claim it. It is a particular category of something, and the broader umbrella terms do not capture what that particular thing is. Abandoning term is symptom of authoritarian power.
