Lots of roads remain flooded and this stuff is being flown in as it gets donated. It's an appropriate and necessary method for immediate needs. I just saw that they took in all the non-perishable food already, and also learned that all hygiene products remain in need.

If you are local, they’re taking all donations today—except water (not best to fly). We just heard from the pilots of a ~1000 person shelter in Brunswick county that ran out of everything. And Cape Fear is still rising. Non-perishable food, all hygiene. 25% off at local Target.pic.twitter.com/nppJgC98ul

But don’t bring bleach! Not flying bleach or detergent or water. (Though fine by me personally as today’s workout for me has been fishing bleach out of the donation boxes!

TFW when you pack every last broom and end up trying to clean the terminal with a squeegee! Terminal is now empty !!! except for two big loads headed to fly tomorrow morning to still hard-to-reach areas in Columbus county. Also the bullhorn has been hooked up to music, maybe.pic.twitter.com/uzD9HaOR7x

Also, we just got word that the last pilot landed. In the dark. To an airstrip with no personnel or lights! Apparently said “As long as the air strip didn’t move it should be fine”. And it was. That concludes Operation Airdrop. Recovery for NC though has barely began.pic.twitter.com/9PmihnsLc3

(I also heard the Target near RDU is giving 25% discount to hurricane relief purchases).
