If this academic/writer thing tanks, I’m opening a gym. Almost every gym I see is designed to be hostile to fitness. 
I’d stack weights in proper increments and according to real use! Get rid of most machines! Ban the word “tone”! Focus on form and progression, not lbs!
Gently intervene with people swinging their weights! That’s not the point and asking to get hurt, not strong! Have useful charts, not mr-whocares-Olympia!

disagree. Different people have different priorities. Swinging weights, depending on the movement, the goals, can be legitimate.

Very very few people in any regular gym are doing that with any deliberateness. I’m not concerned with or talking about bodybuilders etc.
