I wonder if there’s any other correlate besides just more driving? There’s more drunk driving on New Years but probably less/shorter driving.

I think the spikes are going to be more pronounced on special days that aren't anchored to day-of-week. There are prob other spikes on thanksgiving and sporting-event-days, but they average away because they move around the calendar.
