Good morning @zeynep! I want to share a really creepy experience I had earlier this week regarding big tech.
My friend's iPhone and my Android were both connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Her phone was connected to a Bluetooth speaker, and was playing music from YouTube.

At the same time, I was looking at one of my Google Play Music playlists, and I added a song from my library to that playlist. What happened next was really weird: the song I added to MY GPM playlist ended up being the next song that played on HER YouTube playlist

Have you ever heard of something like this? To me, there is no way this was coincidence.

I’d bet it was a coincidence. Billions of people are playing songs, stuff like this is bound to happen. This is not really something they have an incentive to do anyway, synchronize playlists.

I don't doubt you. At the same time, the song I chose and the music she was playing were very different. Regardless, it left me feeling a bit... exposed. I'm not really sure how to describe it. Very "Big Brother-y"

Massive surveillance is real, so are these types of coincidences.
