Well, I lost count of the things that I've advocated for that have been adopted by those companies. I'm not saying it was due to me (who knows and I don't care how it happens) but I advocated for them publicly and non-publicly and some non-significant number are now in products.

Bertil, as you probably know Zeynep is one of the most respected authors in the field. She's published a book and many essays on the different challenges tech industry poses to democracy and public discourse.

My point is actually that she assumes that key people are misguided, while they are far better informed and familiar (although sceptical) with her work.

I think they are in over their heads, to be honest. It’s hard not to be at the speed things have happened. I also assume that many of them are quite smart – I meet them. That’s not enough.

What would give them air is constructive help. So far, the press and commentariat are so acerbic that they can have that conversation candidly.
