In my experience as an end user of software, I can say with certainty that the 'safety culture' of software production is not nearly as intense and effective as these more mature, life-threatening industries. How many pieces of software have holes discovered 10yrs later?

Diego, when people talk about how Twitter is a hateful, prejudiced and horrible place, they think about response like yours. When people talk about hatred on-line, the degradation of discussion and violent discrimination, they talk about this.

Well, I lost count of the things that I've advocated for that have been adopted by those companies. I'm not saying it was due to me (who knows and I don't care how it happens) but I advocated for them publicly and non-publicly and some non-significant number are now in products.

My point is actually that she assumes that key people are misguided, while they are far better informed and familiar (although sceptical) with her work.

I think they are in over their heads, to be honest. It’s hard not to be at the speed things have happened. I also assume that many of them are quite smart – I meet them. That’s not enough.
