AI has hit mainstream. I'm often asked if I'd interview for yet another documentary on AI. Sounds good at first but most of them seem stuck in the la-la-land meets Terminator track. Meanwhile—on Planet Earth—Dept. of Homeland Security will soon mass-deploy face-recognition AI.

I mean, I love science fiction. Part-geek here! I do like those conversations about singularity, humanoid robots, AI run amok.. But those are fun conversations, not realistic, critical analyses of what we are facing and must address *now*.

So "criticism" is a distant AI-apocalypse where AI runs away from us, rather than power incorporating AI into its operation—what's actualy happening. And "optimism" seems to be mostly about more efficient businesses! Former is bypassing real threat, latter is pitifully narrow.
